Last night was a pretty scary medical situation. My blood sugar plummeted to very unsafe levels. We were only a few minutes away from calling an ambulance before things started to turn around.
My new diet (of three weeks) is certainly making my blood sugar (and my weight) lower. In just 22 days, I have dropped 19 pounds. My average blood sugar has went from 144 to 93. The diet in combination with medications made it fall too low last night.
Luckily I am married to the best nurse ever. Ranae has been a nurse for 34 years and is very well versed in caring for my crazy situation. She keeps an extremely close eye on it.
When it started to fall she had me skip last night’s medications and we took measures to keep it from falling. It continued to fall despite the efforts and it was pretty scary when it hit the lower 50’s.
Finally about 2:00am, we got it stabilized around 88. This morning (5 hours later) it continues to be at normal healthy level.
This type of diet has a dramatic effect on blood sugar and A1C results. Prior to the cancer being discovered in September 2016, I was on this diet as well. During the three months I was on this diet back then, my A1C dropped a full 4 points from 9.6 to 5.2. This diet makes dramatic improvements in blood sugar levels which is why we keep such a close eye on it, as my doctor and nurse make necessary changes to get me off all medications.
Simply put, this diet is the fastest way off of diabetic medications AT LEAST FOR ME.
To those who follow me on social media and wrote because you were concerned that I was making changes to medications by myself, please be assured that only my nurse (Ranae) and my doctor make these changes. I have the best medical care a person could possibly want. I do nothing by myself. These two medical professionals are in complete charge of my meds.
Thanks to all those who were praying for me last night. I appreciate it greatly.
After that rather scary and uncomfortable night, my precious wife went outside, here at Six Acres, the next morning and took this photo. It’s amazing to me how often I go through something rather unpleasant only to be reminded by her just how blessed I truly am. This photo shows some of the raw beauty that I get to see every day here at Six Acres. When I think of all the beautiful scenery here, I know God has truly blessed me. This is His artwork and it’s amazing that He created it all for each of us.
Blessings,
